Every year, the people at Essay Daily<\/em><\/a> put together an essay Advent Calendar. That is, with every day of Advent, a new essay appears. Sometimes the calendar is themed; this year’s calendar was unthemed. We were simply asked to write about an essay or essayist that we liked or that interested us.<\/p>\n

I wrote about Sam Cha’s essay called “Koreans With Guns.” The piece comes from his chapbook\u00a0American Carnage<\/em><\/a>. “Deep Roots (Thinking about “Koreans With Guns”)<\/a> is\u00a0my first publication connected to a new book project examining college campus shootings.<\/p>\n
